How long can a dumpster rental stay at my Middletown property?

Middletown's Dumpster/Container Permit covers up to 14 days, on property or in the street. Tell us your timeline up front and we'll schedule the pickup to match.

Can a Middletown dumpster rental go on the sidewalk?

No. Ordinance 235-5.D bars dumpsters and containers from sidewalks, and street placement needs permission from Public Works.

Are there extra rules for a winter dumpster rental in Middletown?

If the spot is on a Snow Emergency route, placement between December 1 and March 31 is decided by Borough Council. We deliver to driveways, so talk to the borough if your plan involves the street.

Can drywall and old lumber go in a dumpster rental in Middletown?

That's what it's for. Middletown's curbside service won't take construction debris, and the Woody Waste Facility won't take lumber, doors or shingles.

Middletown has its own container permit, and two of its curbside rules make a trailer more useful than usual: construction debris is off the curb list entirely, and the borough's woody waste site won't take building scraps either.^[1][2][3]

Middletown's Dumpster/Container Permit

The borough uses a Dumpster/Container Permit Application for containers on property or on the street, good for up to 14 days.^[1][4]

A container on the street needs permission from Public Works.^[4]
No dumpster or container may be placed on a sidewalk, under Ordinance 235-5.D.^[4]
From December 1 through March 31, whether a dumpster can sit on a Snow Emergency route is up to Borough Council.^[4]
Closing part of a street or sidewalk is a separate No Parking/Street-Sidewalk Closures application.^[1]

Figure out where it sits before delivery

Only about a third of Middletown's homes are single-family detached, so it's worth settling where the trailer will go before delivery day. Ask the borough whether a trailer on your property needs the container permit, and leave yourself room inside that 14-day window.^[5][4]

Remodel debris needs somewhere to go

The borough's 2026 collection calendar is plain about it: no construction debris at the curb. The Woody Waste Facility draws the same line, refusing lumber, doors and shingles along with trash and grass clippings.^[2][3]

A bathroom tear-out or a basement refinish turns out that kind of material every day you work on it. A trailer in the driveway gives it a home until the project is done. Keep paint, chemicals, propane tanks and liquids out of it.

Big brush jobs

With curbside woody waste gone, residents haul brush to the borough facility themselves, on a resident card that allows only so many visits a year. A hedge removal or an overgrown lot can use those up fast. A trailer lets you pile it all in one place and have it hauled once.^[3]

A note on trees: William isn't an arborist, and we don't fell standing trees. Downed limbs and already-cut wood can go in the trailer; trimming, stump grinding and anything still standing belong with a certified arborist.
