Owner-operated. William is personally on every job from start to finish.

Let's be clear up front, because it matters: The Junk Lord does not cut down trees. William isn't an arborist, and felling a standing tree takes training and gear that a hauling outfit has no business faking. What we do is fallen tree cleanup. The tree came down on its own, or a tree service dropped it and left the wood, or you cut it up yourself one weekend and now there's a stack of rounds you never want to see again. That's our kind of job. We carry the logs, tops and branches out and haul them away.

Fallen tree on the ground after a storm in York County, PA — The Junk Lord

What's Included

  • Two-person crew, fully insured, in a marked truck
  • Logs, rounds, trunk sections and brushy tops carried and loaded
  • Sweep-up of the area we cleared
  • Responsible disposal at licensed transfer stations
  • Upfront price confirmed before we start

What We Take

  • Trunk sections and rounds already cut on the ground
  • Already-cut logs a tree service left behind
  • Brushy crowns and big branches off a downed tree
  • Wood from a tree you took down yourself
  • Old firewood stacks gone punky or full of bugs
  • Root balls from a stump that's already been pulled

How the job goes

  1. Step 1
Send a photo of the wood

Text (717) 654-6138 with a picture of what's on the ground. Put a person or a five-gallon bucket next to the biggest piece so we can judge the size.

  2. Step 2
    Get a straight answer

William tells you whether it's something we can carry and load, and if so, the price. If it's still a tree job, he'll tell you to call an arborist first.

  3. Step 3
    Load the wood

We carry the rounds, logs and tops to the truck and load them.

  4. Step 4
    Clean finish

We sweep up the bark and twigs from the area we cleared before we leave.

When you need an arborist, not us

Call a certified arborist if any of this is true: the tree is still standing, even if it's dead. It's leaning on a house, a wire or another tree. A big limb is snapped but still hanging up top. You want a stump ground out. We'd rather send you to the right person than have anybody get hurt.

A lot of homeowners hire an arborist to drop and cut the tree, then handle the haul-off separately. Once the wood is on the ground, we can give you a separate price to clear it.

Why a whole tree is hard to get rid of yourself

York County's yard waste area takes trimmings only up to 6 feet long and 24 inches across, and root balls only up to 12 inches in diameter. Bigger pieces aren't accepted there.[1]

In Lancaster County, the Frey Farm site takes non-commercially hauled tree branches only if they're under 12 inches in diameter.[2]

Add the weight of green wood and the number of trips in a pickup, and most people decide it's not worth their Saturday.

What one downed tree actually leaves behind

People underestimate this. A single mature tree on the ground is a trunk cut into heavy rounds, a crown that sprawls across half the yard, and a carpet of twigs and leaves underneath. Green wood is wet and heavy, and the rounds off the base of a big oak are not something you toss into a hatchback.

That's why we ask for a photo with something in the frame for scale. It lets William see what he's pricing, and it tells him right away whether any piece is beyond what two people can carry.

Fallen tree cleanup vs. general storm cleanup

This page is about the wood itself: one big tree's worth of trunk, rounds and crown. If a storm also scattered fence panels, patio furniture and shingles around the yard, our storm cleanup service covers the whole mess in one visit.

What we don't handle

Not the right fit?

Need a standing tree taken down? Call a certified arborist.

We don't fell standing trees, and we're not arborists. Felling, topping, trimming and stump grinding take a certified arborist with the rigging and coverage for it. Once a tree or limb is already on the ground, that's where we come in — we load it and haul it away.
