Fence Removal in York County, PA
Leaning wood, rusty chain-link and cracked vinyl pulled out and hauled away.
A fence that's falling down does the opposite of its job. Pickets lean, gates won't latch, chain-link sags where a branch hit it, and the posts wobble in their holes. Fence removal fixes that in one go. We take down wood, chain-link and vinyl fences, pull the posts, roll up the wire, and haul every section away. Whether a new fence is going up on the same line or you're opening the yard back up, you're left with a clear property line and a row of post holes to fill.

How the job goes
- Step 1Walk the line in photos
Text pictures down the fence line and of a post or two at the base, and tell us roughly how many feet.
- Step 2Mark what stays
If the neighbor's section or a gate stays, we mark it before we start. Price confirmed then.
- Step 3Panels down, posts out
Panels and fabric come down first, then each post gets worked loose with its footing still attached.
- Step 4Haul and tidy
Everything leaves on the truck and we sweep and rake the fence line.
The posts are the real work
Taking down panels is quick. The time goes into the posts. Most fence posts around here are set in a lump of concrete, and every one has to come out of the ground with that lump attached. Some pop out easy. Some have been there thirty years and act like it.
Whether the concrete around each post comes out, or the posts get cut at grade, is something we settle with you on the quote.
Wood, chain-link and vinyl each come apart their own way
- Wood: pickets and boards come off the rails, rails come off the posts. Rotted posts often snap, so we dig the base out instead of leaving a stub.
- Chain-link: the fabric gets unclipped and rolled, the top rail slides out, and the steel posts get worked loose from their concrete.
- Vinyl: panels usually lift out of the posts in sections, which makes them quick, but the posts are often filled or set deep.
- Split rail and farm fence: fewer parts, longer runs, and posts that have been in the ground a very long time.
Old fencing and York County's drop-off rules
If you were thinking of hauling it to the county, the Small Load Drop-Off does take fencing, but only in sections 6 by 6 feet or smaller, and only with no concrete on the posts.[1]
So a homeowner doing it alone ends up cutting panels down and knocking concrete off every post, and the concrete itself isn't accepted there either.[1]
Fences on the property line
A lot of fences sit right on the line, and some belong to the neighbor. Before we come, make sure the fence is yours to take out, or that the neighbor is on board. We'll only pull the sections you point to.
If there's anything growing through the fence, like vines or brush, we can cut it out with the fence. Standing trees growing through it are another matter; that's for a certified arborist.
What we don't handle
- Hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, asbestos, propane tanks)
