Pieces in good shape go to a donation drop-off. Broken or worn-out ones go for disposal at a licensed transfer station.
Most couch removal headaches aren’t about weight. They’re about geometry: the sectional that came in before the new front door went on, the sleeper sofa jammed at the bottom of the basement steps, the dresser that has to swing around a landing. We’ll unbolt a piece, or cut it down if it won’t unbolt, rather than chew up your drywall forcing it out whole.
Sectional removal is usually the easy version of this. Most come apart at the seams between sections, and each piece is a manageable carry for two people. Sleeper sofas are the heavy surprise; that steel bed frame inside adds up fast.
Walk-ups and second-floor apartments are routine. Stairs and tight hallways are part of the job.
If a piece is in good shape, it heads to a donation drop-off. If it’s broken, stained or coming apart at the joints, it goes to disposal. You don’t have to decide ahead of time; tell us what’s staying and we’ll work around it.
If you’d rather do it yourself, York County residents can bring furniture and mattresses to the county’s Small Load Drop-Off on Blackbridge Road. That waste goes into the Resource Recovery Center and is turned into electricity, while metal pieces like bed frames and bookshelves go to a local scrap yard. A per-ton fee with a minimum applies to waste loads.[1][2]
