Office Cleanout: Desks, File Cabinets & Old IT Gear Hauled Out
The lease is up and the furniture isn't coming with you. We'll clear the office so you can hand back the keys.
Offices fill up slowly and empty all at once. A practice moves across town, a team downsizes, a business closes, and suddenly there are twelve desks, a conference table that came in through a window, and a closet stacked with dead monitors. An office cleanout from The Junk Lord gets all of it out. We carry the furniture down the stairs or to the elevator, load the old computer gear and the filing cabinets, and leave the space broom-clean. William walks through it with you first so nothing you're keeping ends up in the truck.

What's Included
- Two-person crew, fully insured, in a marked truck
- Walkthrough first; anything you flag stays
- Moving equipment for heavy desks and file cabinets
- Donation drop-offs for reusable furniture
- Broom-clean finish when the space is cleared
- Upfront price confirmed before we start
What We Take
- Desks, credenzas and conference tables
- Office chairs and waiting-room seating
- Metal and wood file cabinets
- Cubicle panels and bookshelves
- Computers, monitors, keyboards and printers
- Break-room tables, microwaves and mini fridges
- Boxes of old binders, supplies and cardboard
How the job goes
- Step 1Photos or a walkthrough
Text photos of each room to (717) 654-6138, or set up a time for William to see the space in person.
- Step 2Mark what stays
Tag anything moving to the new office or going home with an employee. Flagged items don't leave.
- Step 3Price confirmed
You get one number for the whole job, based on how much truck space it fills, before we start.
- Step 4Clear and sweep
We take out the furniture, electronics and boxes, make donation drop-offs for usable pieces and broom-sweep the empty rooms.
Old computers can't go in the dumpster
Pennsylvania's Covered Device Recycling Act took effect as a disposal ban on January 24, 2013. Since then, desktops, laptops, monitors, computer peripherals and TVs can't be thrown out with municipal waste.[1][2]
The law defines a peripheral as a keyboard, printer or any other device sold only for external use with a computer. Office phones are specifically excluded from the definition.[2]
Businesses with fewer than 50 employees may use the state's covered-device collection sites. Larger businesses and public entities have to make their own recycling arrangements.[3]
Deal with your data before pickup day
Wipe or pull the hard drives before the computers leave the building. The York County Solid Waste Authority recommends wiping personal data before recycling electronics, and Lancaster County's authority states plainly that it does not destroy data on devices it receives.[4][5]
The same goes for paper. Shred or box up confidential files yourself before we arrive. We haul cabinets and boxes; we don't sort through them.
Planning around a lease end
Most office cleanouts run backwards from a date: the day the keys go back to the landlord. Work out early what's moving to the new space, what employees are taking home and what's going in our truck. Label the keepers with tape or sticky notes so nobody has to guess.
Then get the electronics wiped and the files shredded or boxed before the cleanout day, not during it. When we arrive, the job is just carrying things out.
Office cleanout vs. commercial junk removal
This page is for clearing a working office: furniture, files and IT equipment. If you're a landlord, realtor or property manager turning over a unit or a storefront, our commercial junk removal page is the better fit.
Not sure which one you need? Text the photos anyway. William will price what he sees, whatever we end up calling it.
What we don't handle
- Hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, propane tanks
- Liquids of any kind
