Owner-operated. William is personally on every job from start to finish.

A garage cleanout usually starts with one question: when did a car last fit in here? We clear out what's piled up. Broken tools, dead mowers, bikes nobody rides, boxes from two moves ago, the old fridge humming in the corner. You point, we carry. William prices it from photos or a quick look and confirms the number before we start, and our two-person crew does all the lifting and loading. Usable gear goes to donation drop-offs, and we sweep the floor once the bay is empty.

How the job goes

  1. Step 1
    Snap the whole garage

Stand in the open door and take a few wide shots, plus close-ups of anything heavy. Text them to (717) 654-6138.

  2. Step 2
    Drain what runs on gas

Empty the gas and oil from mowers, trimmers and snow blowers, and pull propane tanks and paint cans off to one side. We can't take liquids or hazardous waste.

  3. Step 3
    Price, then the work

William confirms the price before we start. Then we carry everything out, sorting donations from the rest as we go.

  4. Step 4
    Sweep it and park

Once the floor is clear we sweep it out. Pull the car in that night.

Paint, propane and gas cans: where they go

Garages are where the hazardous stuff hides. We leave it, but it doesn't have to stay forever.

  • York County's household hazardous waste events accept flammables like fuels, solvents and stains, plus garden chemicals, driveway sealant and vehicle fluids. They're free for residents and require registration.[1][2]
  • The standard 20-lb grill tank is not accepted at York County's events. Lancaster County residents can bring propane tanks of 20 lb or less to LCSWMA's household hazardous waste facility.[2][3]
  • Car batteries aren't taken at the York County events either. The county says to return them to a business that sells vehicle batteries.[2]
  • LCSWMA accepts lawn mowers and snow blowers as bulky items once the gas and oil have been removed.[4]

Old tires stacked in the corner

If you're getting rid of a few tires yourself, York County lets off-rim tires up to 32 inches across with no more than 12 inches of tread go out with curbside trash, though some haulers cap how many per pickup. The Resource Recovery Center takes up to ten under the same rules, for a fee.[5]

Tires still mounted on rims, or bigger than those limits, can't go curbside or to the Resource Recovery Center. The county points those to private tire recyclers, which charge a fee.[5]

Power tools, old stereos and the garage fridge

York County's free residential electronics recycling takes corded power tools, along with stereos, TVs, computers and printers.[6]

The old beer fridge is a different story. Fridges and freezers aren't accepted as electronics because they contain refrigerant, which is removed at the county's Small Load Drop-Off before the unit is recycled.[6][7]
