Attic Cleanouts in York County, PA
Boxes, old furniture and bagged insulation brought down the ladder and hauled away.
An attic cleanout means getting things down a pull-down ladder or a narrow back staircase, usually in heat or cold, usually in bad light. That part's our job, not yours. Boxes of old clothes, a broken rocking chair, the Christmas village, a stack of old monitors, bagged old insulation: we bring it down, carry it out through the house and haul it away. William prices it from photos and confirms the price before we start. Anything you flag stays up there, and we sweep the floorboards we clear.

What's Included
- Bringing everything down from the attic and out of the house
- Two-person crew, all labor included
- Upfront price confirmed before we start
- Flagged items left in place
- Donation drop-offs for usable furniture and household goods
- Sweep-up of the attic floor we cleared

How the job goes
- Step 1Tell us how you get up there
Pull-down ladder, hatch in a closet ceiling, or real stairs? Take a photo of the way in and a couple of the space itself, and text them to (717) 654-6138.
- Step 2Price confirmed
William confirms an upfront price based on how much truck space the attic's contents will fill.
- Step 3Hand down, carry out
With two of us, one hands things down and one carries them out through the house. Anything that was assembled up there gets taken apart to come down.
- Step 4Sweep the boards
We sweep the areas we emptied before we load the last of it.
Old insulation, and what we won't touch
Old insulation that's already bagged can go with the load. Disposal is tighter than people expect: York County's Small Load Drop-Off accepts insulation only in limited amounts, two 42-gallon contractor bags per trip.[1]
We don't take asbestos, and that drop-off doesn't either. If you're not sure what something up there is made of, leave it alone and mention it when you text photos.[1]
Old computers and TVs from the attic
Attics collect the electronics nobody knew how to get rid of, and in Pennsylvania they can't go in the trash. Desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards, printers and TVs with screens of four inches or more are covered devices under state law.[2]
Phones aren't covered devices, and tablets and e-readers aren't named in the law, though some local programs take them anyway, including Dauphin County's recycling center and LCSWMA.[2][3][4]
York County residents can recycle computers, monitors, printers and TVs for free at the Resource Recovery Center, and YCSWA recommends wiping personal data off a device before it goes. Pull the hard drive or reset anything you care about before cleanout day.[5]
The window AC that's been up there for years
A window unit stored in the attic still holds refrigerant. York County takes air conditioners at its Small Load Drop-Off, where the Freon comes out before recycling, but its electronics program won't accept them.[6][5]
Attics in the area's oldest homes can be tight. In Marietta, 66.0% of homes were built in 1939 or earlier, and in Lancaster city it's 53.8%, so steep stairs and small hatches come with the territory.[7][8]
What we don't handle
- Hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, asbestos, propane tanks
- Liquids of any kind
