Pool tables come with the house, get inherited, or lose their spot to a home gym. Then nobody wants to deal with them, because a slate table doesn’t leave a room in one piece. Pool table removal means taking it apart right where it stands: felt off, rails off, slate lifted out, frame unbolted. Every piece gets carried out separately and hauled away. Finished basements, rec rooms, garages, bonus rooms over the garage, wherever it ended up.

The slate is the whole problem. Most home tables have a slate bed, often in three pieces, screwed down to a wood frame and sealed at the seams. Try to tip the table on its side and carry it out whole, and you risk cracking the slate, gouging a wall, or flattening somebody’s foot.
So we go in order. The felt gets pulled, the rails and pockets come off, the slate sections are lifted out one by one, and then the frame and legs come apart. Broken down that way, each piece fits through a normal door and clears a basement stair turn.
Wood-bed tables and bumper pool tables are lighter and simpler, but they still usually come apart before they leave the basement.
A few minutes of prep saves time on the day.
This is a haul-away job. We don’t relevel, refelt or reinstall tables, and we don’t move one to a new house. A table that’s going to be played again needs a billiards installer to set it up level on the other end, so if that’s the plan, call one of them instead.
And if you think the table is worth money, get that figured out before it comes apart. We don’t appraise or buy tables.
