York County residents can take construction and demolition debris to the Small Load Drop-Off Area. Some materials are accepted only in small amounts: drywall, plaster, tile, insulation, ceiling tile and cement board are limited to two 42-gallon contractor bags per disposal.[1]
Lumber, including pressure-treated, has to be 6 feet or shorter. Carpet has to be 6 feet or less and light enough for one person to carry.[1]
The drop-off does not accept bricks, concrete, cement, macadam, sand, soil, stone, gravel, railroad ties or asbestos.[1]
The county says a hauler pickup of C&D may be possible, but your hauler may have additional requirements. At least one contracted hauler serving York County states plainly that no construction debris will be collected curbside.[1][2]
Over in Lancaster County, the waste-to-energy facility takes only residential pickup-truck loads or smaller of construction debris.[3]

Keep nails pointed down or pulled from boards you've stacked. Bag the small, crumbly stuff like plaster dust and broken tile so it doesn't scatter across the floor. And if you suspect anything is asbestos, like old pipe wrap or 9-inch floor tiles, have it tested and leave it alone. We can't take it.
